Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of a device that contains fine needles. The needles are used to puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin. Through this process there is improvement in skin texture and firmness, as well as reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks.
How Does Micro Needling Help Your Skin?
MDPen rapidly creates a pattern of micro channels in the treatment area. These micro channels significantly increase the production of collagen and elastin to leave the skin smoother, fresher, and more uniform. Micro channels also enhance the skin’s ability to absorb medical grade topicals, like anti-aging serums and skin lighteners, when applied during or immediately after the treatment.
Why Does Plasma Rich Platelet Therapy Work?
PRP, or Platelet Rich Plasma, can be used with the MDPen. Often referred to as the “Vampire Facial,” it is a procedure that involves withdrawing a patient’s blood, processing it to isolate the platelet-rich plasma (PRP), then re-injecting it or applying it directly to the skin, to erase wrinkles and create a more youthful look. This procedure yields very low risk considering the patient is using their own, natural growth factors instead of a chemical compound.
How Many Treatments Will Be Needed?
Some patients only require a single treatment once per year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6-week intervals. You will be provided with your specific plan according to your skincare needs during your consultation.
